Snowy Owl - February 18, 2012

After seeing John E. Marriot's Snowy Owl photos from Vancouver, I had hoped to get some more shots other then my standard sitting on a power pole photo.

Luckily on February 18, I found a Snowy Owl that didn't mind have it's picture taken.

This one was taken on the side of highway south of Wood Mountain, SK Canada.

After pulling over onto a grid road I was able to get some more photos.
Below is a picture of where I shot most of my Snowy Owl photos from...

I decided to cross the highway and got halfway across the road (luckily it's not a busy highway) before it took off...

Last but not least - my Flickr photos from 2011

Coronach Postcard

A few weeks ago (Okay, it was over a month ago), I was told about a photo contest for promoting a local community (Coronach, Saskatchewan) via Postcards. (Yes, people still send those.)

I submitted a few photos, hoping that one would get selected...

It turns out they wanted to use 3 of the submitted photos, plus another one from my Flickr stream to create a “Wildlife in Coronach” postcard. (I changed the create commons rights to the Flickr photos.)

Wow, I was really honoured, but could not tell my followers (Posterous / Twitter / Facebook) till now.

A good friend of mine told me at lunch that she had read an article in the Coronach Triangle News about these postcards. I have yet to see the article.

You should send the Triangle News an email... tell them to post the article online so that you can see the other winners.

Update - Here's the online version of the article.

Here’s the final postcard

Stay tuned to this site, or Twitter or Facebook... I’ll see if I can get some to give away to a lucky follower or two.
